GolfMark is a national scheme that identifies and recognises junior and beginner friendly golf facilities. It is a quality mark which provides both reassurance that the needs of children have been thoroughly considered and addressed and a safe and organised environment for young people.
The three key areas within the golf club which were assessed are:
- Coaching & Playing
- Club Environment (including sports equity & ethics)
- Child Protection & Duty of Care
The first steps towards achieving the GolfMark were taken last November when a Development Group was formed of PGA professionals and volunteers from the club. This group put together a portfolio identifying the developments that were taking place, outlining a development plan for the following year and providing proof of individuals qualifications both for coaching and working with young people. There is now a clear pathway for young people to follow from their first introduction to the game through to club and county competition teaching them social and life skills along the way.
Look out for our well coached, committed and educated juniors who will become our adult members of the future.
